BATON ROUGE, LA – Organizers leading recall efforts against Governor Jeff Landry, Baton Rouge Mayor-President Sid Edwards, and Attorney General Liz Murrill expressed renewed optimism this week, explaining all three petitions remain well-positioned for success if Louisiana would simply eliminate the requirement to collect large numbers of signatures.
Campaign leaders described the signature thresholds as “the primary obstacle” preventing the recalls from moving forward, adding that nearly every other aspect of the efforts has gone according to plan.
Despite acknowledging the challenge of gathering hundreds of thousands of signatures, organizers recently announced they’re expanding volunteer recruitment while simultaneously managing all three recall campaigns. Supporters praised that strategy, while critics questioned whether dividing limited volunteers and resources among three separate petitions might make it considerably harder to complete any of them.
Organizers insisted managing three recalls at once is actually more efficient, allowing them to distribute volunteers, clipboards, and unrealistic expectations throughout the state instead of concentrating them in one place.
Campaign leaders said the strategy ensures no single recall receives preferential treatment by accidentally becoming successful.
