BATON ROUGE, LA – Sen. Bill Cassidy’s re-election campaign entered full damage-control mode Sunday evening after staff confirmed that the senator’s now-infamous gumbo containing collard greens was not an isolated incident.
According to campaign sources, the situation escalated late Sunday night when a senior aide discovered handwritten notes in Cassidy’s kitchen describing what he reportedly called a “healthy Louisiana twist” on crawfish etouffee, featuring sauteed kale.
Within hours, Cassidy’s campaign manager reportedly cleared out his desk, leaving behind only a brief resignation letter reading, “I can explain a lot of votes, but I cannot defend all these greens in traditional Louisiana dishes.”
