BATON ROUGE, LA – Governor Jeff Landry held a celebratory press conference Tuesday to announce Louisiana’s latest government innovation: replacing the Office of Motor Vehicles’ notoriously confusing system with a newer, more modern version that is equally baffling, just with a slicker user interface.
“The old system was clunky, slow, and deeply frustrating,” Landry said. “This new system is faster, sleeker, and you’ll be confused AF in less than half the time.”
State officials explained that under the new platform, users attempting to renew their license will still need to upload obscure documents and reset their password multiple times but now they’ll be doing it on a page with slightly rounder buttons and easier to read fonts with gradient colors.
“It really feels like the future of inefficiency,” said one OMV employee, proudly pointing to a demo screen that was displaying a ‘404 page not found’ error.
The $29 million contract promises reduced wait times and increased digital services, assuming users can figure out how to log in.
Officials confirmed the old system will remain active through a ‘transitional period,’ during which both platforms will fail simultaneously.
