BATON ROUGE, LA – As rumors intensify that Garret Graves may mount a campaign for governor, Jeff Landry signed an executive order Thursday removing Graves’ Baton Rouge residence from inside Louisiana’s official state boundaries.
State officials described the move as a “targeted boundary correction,” though revised maps now show a small, perfectly shaped exclusion zone surrounding the property.
“This is not about politics,” Landry said while unveiling the updated map. “It’s about ensuring our state lines accurately reflect the people of Louisiana.”
Under state law, candidates for governor must be Louisiana residents, a requirement Graves now reportedly fails by a margin of “at least several feet.”
Survey crews were seen early Thursday carefully outlining the property, leaving surrounding homes unaffected.
Sources within the administration say additional “preventative adjustments” remain on the table if circumstances change.
Graves told The Sadvocate he was upset at first, but the 85% cut to his taxes and insurance made it easier to accept.
