BATON ROUGE, LA – Calling the outing “one of the most productive fishing trips in modern diplomatic history,” Jeff Landry announced Wednesday that he has formally requested federal approval to extend Louisiana-issued fishing licenses to the Strait of Hormuz after recently taking Donald Trump on a trip in the area.
According to Landry, the idea came together after what aides described as an “unexpectedly dominant showing” by Trump, who reportedly reeled in multiple large mackerel within minutes of dropping a line in the water.
“At one point, it was just fish after fish,” Landry said. “We realized pretty quickly this is a resource Louisiana fishermen deserve access to.”
The proposal would allow Louisiana anglers to legally operate in the heavily trafficked international waterway using standard state licenses, with optional upgrades for shrimping and crabs.
State officials described the request as a mix of economic opportunity and goodwill, citing the “clear abundance of fish” and early results they called “extremely encouraging.”
Sources say Landry has already begun informal outreach efforts, including documenting the trip, holding up several large catches for verification, and pointing out that “we’ve got some boys back home in Golden Meadow who could probably do even better.”
Rumors are already circulating that Gordon McKernan has begun buying shoreline property to target potential maritime accident victims.
