BATON ROUGE, LA – Inspired by Michael Echols’ recent push to name the new Mississippi River bridge after Donald Trump, Rick Edmonds announced what he called “the first traffic solution in Baton Rouge history that doesn’t involve a 12-year study.”
After thousands of residents flooded social media insisting they would never drive across a Trump-named bridge “under any circumstances,” Edmonds said the answer was obvious.
“Why stop at the bridge?” Edmonds said. “Let’s name I-10 the Donald Trump Expressway and let public opinion do the rest.”
Transportation officials estimate that even a modest boycott could dramatically reduce congestion, while a full refusal could leave the interstate “functionally empty.”
“We’re not expanding infrastructure,” one official noted. “We’re strategically repelling drivers.”
Commuters have already begun planning alternate routes, including Airline Highway, side streets, and “whatever road doesn’t come with a political identity attached.”
LADOTD says the first round of feasibility studies should begin in Q1 of 2032.
