Louisiana Named Most Stressful State, Officials Say Results Skewed by I-10 Traffic Alone

BATON ROUGE, LA – A new report ranking the nation’s most stressful states has placed Louisiana firmly at the top, a result state officials are already disputing by insisting the data was “artificially inflated” by a single stretch of interstate in Baton Rouge.

According to the study, factors like crime, poverty, and healthcare access all contributed to Louisiana’s ranking, but analysts noted that stress levels spiked dramatically when researchers were asked to merge onto I-10 near the bridge during peak hours.

“Up until that point, Louisiana was tracking as moderately stressful,” said one researcher. “Then we hit that curve, saw brake lights for no apparent reason, and several members of our team immediately began reevaluating their life choices.”

State leaders were quick to respond, arguing the ranking does not accurately reflect the full Louisiana experience, but rather a concentrated pocket of “extreme situational despair.”

Transportation officials clarified that while the traffic congestion may appear chaotic, it is actually part of a long-term strategy involving studies, future studies, and the eventual consideration of solutions.

Transportation officials emphasized that the situation is improving, noting that some drivers were able to move nearly half a mile over the course of the entire afternoon.
