OXFORD, MS – Ole Miss officials confirmed Monday they have updated the program’s Facebook relationship status to “It’s Complicated” following the hiring of LSU interim head coach Frank Wilson, a move insiders described as “necessary for transparency” and “emotionally honest.”
Sources close to the program say the decision came after several hours of internal discussion, during which administrators reportedly agreed that “single” felt inaccurate and “in a relationship” would raise too many questions from LSU, Lane Kiffin, and the broader SEC community.
“This doesn’t mean we didn’t care,” one Ole Miss official said, staring at the floor. “It just means we’re in a different place now.”
The hire comes just days after LSU moved forward with Lane Kiffin, a development Ole Miss supporters initially claimed they were “totally fine with” before immediately monitoring LSU’s activity and responding within hours. Frank Wilson, who briefly served as LSU’s interim head coach, was described by Ole Miss sources as “someone who understands us” and “was there when we needed him.”
Wilson, for his part, reportedly requested that all parties “keep things respectful,” adding that he still hopes to “see the team occasionally” and “remain part of their lives,” depending on how the Family Court Judge ruled.
LSU officials declined to comment, though sources say the program has muted Ole Miss on social media while continuing to check their stories.
