NEW ORLEANS, LA – City leaders celebrated the announcement that New Orleans will host the 2027–28 College Football National Championship, assuring visitors the experience will be “perfectly safe” under a few simple conditions: arrive cashless, leave the car at home, and preferably wear clothing without pockets.
The mayor’s office promised an enhanced security presence around the Superdome, which will include officers stationed at “key mugging corridors” to ensure the lines move efficiently. Police said they’ll also be testing a new “reverse 911” system that automatically alerts criminals when tourists arrive.
Local officials encouraged fans to embrace the full New Orleans experience, reminding them that a stolen wallet “is really just a keepsake for someone else.” For drivers, the city is offering free shuttle service directly to the impound lot, where most cars are expected to end up by the second quarter.
Organizers stressed that the national title game is a once-in-a-lifetime event for the city. “We’re confident we can keep everyone safe,” one spokesperson said, “as long as they don’t bring anything worth stealing.”
