SAN DIEGO, CA – In a shocking twist during Thursday’s hearing, a California judge presented Baton Rouge rapper Boosie with what many legal analysts are calling a “sentence or exile” ruling: two years in federal prison or immediate relocation back to Baton Rouge.
Court observers said Boosie looked shaken, whispering to his lawyer, “Prison’s not that bad,” before the option of dealing with I-10 traffic was fully explained. Prosecutors argued that forcing Boosie to live among mass vagrancy, closed-down nightclubs, and yet another round of construction on I-10 would be more rehabilitative than any correctional facility.
“This isn’t cruel or unusual,” Judge Cathy Bencivengo ruled. “It’s just Baton Rouge.” She then clarified that time served anywhere in 70802 or 70805 would count as double credit.
Boosie’s defense team immediately appealed, asking if Shreveport could be substituted. The court firmly rejected the request, noting that cruel and unusual punishment wasn’t necessary.
Boosie is expected to announce his choice in November, though sources say he’s been researching the pros and cons of living in Zion City vs. being incarcerated.
