BATON ROUGE, LA – In a surprising move, BREC has unveiled a temporary splash pad at the Brave Cave site, quickly declaring it far safer than the recently closed Howell Park pool. The $8 million Howell pool, which only operated for about a month before being shut down due to rising crime in the area, has left locals frustrated and looking for alternatives.
Despite the Brave Cave’s dark history, BREC assures the community that the new splash pad is “much safer” than Howell Park. As a precaution, children entering the splash pad will be required to undergo a brief security screening, which includes a questionnaire about local crime trends and a mandatory strip search conducted by an automated system that checks for “suspicious pool toys.” Officials insist this process is necessary to maintain the integrity of the splash pad and keep “potential criminal elements” at bay.
While some parents have raised eyebrows over the invasive screening process, BREC maintains that it’s still a better option than Howell Park, where kids could be facing off with gun-toting youths instead of simply being questioned about their floaties. In the end, BREC believes that the splash pad, despite its unusual safety measures, will provide a crime-free experience, one that’s much safer than the chaotic waters of Howell Park.
